Ceremony and Reception

Our wedding will be held on Saturday, July 4th 2015, 6:30 p.m. at the beautiful Lamborn Farm in Leavenworth, Kansas. The ceremony will be outside in a small field behind the historic barn. The reception will be immediately following the ceremony inside the barn and will end around midnight. Since the barn's construction more than a century ago, it has never left the Lamborn family and was renovated in 2012. It is a Kansas historical landmark and was recently added to the National Registry of Historic Places. While there is no air-conditioning at the barn, it is handicap accessible.

There are a few reasons why this date and location were chosen. The first is that, when Caitlynn and I were getting to know each other in China, she told me that her facorite holiday is the Fourth of July. She added that to get married on that day would be "FANTASTIC," but that it was a ridiculous fantasy. The second is that on another occasion, she mentioned that she thought outdoor weddings had great atmospheres and that she would have hers in her own backyard if she could. Finally, we always joked that no matter where we live, stateside or abroad, we are red-blooded Kansans through and through. All of this led me to booking a Fourth of July wedding date at a historical barn in Kansas, even before popping the question. (Gutsy, I know! But the tears of joy and scream of excitement were well worth the risk!)

REMINDER: Do not forget that the wedding is an OUTDOOR WEDDING, so please remember to dress accordingly. It's a quintessential Kansas wedding, which is subject to the quintessential Kansas weather.
